STEPS TOWARDS LIFELONG LEARNING

SHORT COMPUTER COURSE FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED STUDENTS

In collaboration with Pakistan Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF), The University of Faisalabad (TUF) has arranged one month free-of-charge course on “Basic Computer skills” for visually impaired persons. A considerable number of students from different region of Pakistan participated in this course. The Centre of Collective Activity (CCA) at The university of Faisalabad (TUF) has organized the Certificate Distribution Ceremony after Completion of course. In particular, the PATF Chairman, Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz, especially thanked to the TUF administration for facilitating the Visually Impaired students. Dr Majid Hussain (HoD of Computational Sciences) addressed to the participants and encourage the “especial students” in their continued efforts to develop their skills. Prof Dr Khaleeq ur Rahman highlighted the constructive role of TUF in such kind of activities and he emphasized that other Higher Educational Institutes (HEIs) should play a vital role in facilitating “special people” by providing supports to such Foundation.

  

  

  

 

 

SHORT COURSE DESIGNED FOR HOME ORPHANAGE

Students from the Department of Design and Interiors and faculty members visited Home Orphanage children’s  and give lectures on short course designed by faculty members to students related art. The goal was to engage the orphan children in art and craft activities to enhance their creative thinking processes. Students gives hand on practice to more than 25 children to bring out their creativity on the paper through paintings and art work and promotes life long Learning

 

 

LIBRARY FACILITIES FOR STUDENT, FACULTY AND LOCAL COMMUNITY

The university has two dedicated library in both campus. The mission of The University of Faisalabad Libraries is to provide the right information to the right person at the right time in a right way. University library promote reading culture and provide access to information on diverse academic disciplines. These libraries are spacious, well planned, and offer serene environment. Libraries serve their community with upto-date information through different sources, including digital library, online research journals, periodicals. Users from faculty, staff, or students and community are encouraged to make full use of available resources. Libraries contain around 50,000 books. University Libraries are member of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Digital Library that provides access to thousands of virtual reference sources, online books, electronic journals, digital theses, and other multimedia resources on various subjects. Libraries are equipped with latest technology like RFID System and (KOHA) Library Management System, and are providing users the facility of borrowing and returning of library material. The bibliographic information about available collections is available through KOHA software.

  

 

 

BEACONHOUSE SCHOOL SYSTEM VISITED THE UNIVERSITY OF FAISALABAD

University also invite various schools in surrounding to visit university library to equip students with latest knowledge. Beacon School system visited University library. Students were guided by library administration.

 

 

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH BY USING NVIVO 12 SOFTWARE

Department of Management Studies organized a workshop on “Qualitative Research by Using NVIVO 12 Software” for MS/PhD scholars of various universities , faculty members and employees from various firm. The Head of Department, Dr. Arshia Hashmi, invited International Certified Trainer Dr. Rab Nawaz Lodhi, Associate Professor/Chairperson, Business School, University of Education, Lahore. The workshop aims to enrich hands-on experience on the Mixed Methodology Research Design and focuses on the key agendas of grounded theory, thematic analysis, content analysis, gesture and posture analysis, and discourse analysis. Dr. Arshia Hashmi concluded the workshop and offered special gratitude to Dr. Rab Nawaz Lodhi. After the conclusion of the workshop, attendees provided their feedback and affirmed that it was a thought provoking event and such training sessions/events should be organized in an on-going basis.

 

 

 

HAND ON TRAINING STATISTICAL THEORY OF ANALYSIS & PRACTICAL USE OF SPSS

Workshop on “Statistical Theory of Analysis & Practical Use of SPSS version 26” was conducted for the post graduate students of various universities and professional from various department serving in corporate sector. Dr Arshia Hashmi demonstrated the advanced technicalities regarding the use of software packages and give a hands-on practice of the latest version of SPSS in university general lab.

 

 

 

SHORT COURSE ON ART

Department of Interior design University of Faisalabad host short course on painting and clay modelling to encourage peoples to explore creativity in them. Course will be beneficial to enhance their creative skills. This course will help for them to develop their observation as well as their confidence to create whatever they can imagine. It can also be fruitful to those who want to create paintings, drawings, posters, mood boards, creative presentations, animation and storyboards.

 

 

 

DEPARTMENT OF OPTOMETRY GUIDANCE TO STUDENT

An Eye screening was conducted by students of BS Optometry at Chenab School Chiniot. More than 400 students were screened out at the School by Optometry students along with Madinah Teaching Hospital Doctor. All visual functions were evaluated and students, teachers and staff working were counseled for a detailed evaluation of their problem. External and internal examination of the eye was performed using a pen torch and ophthalmoscope, while contrast and visual function by using Pelli Robson and Snellen chart. The screening activity was conducted under the supervision of Dr Nimra Gul and Dr Shakila Abbas.

 

 

 

VISIT TO SOS CHILDREN'S VILLAGE

Department of Dermatology University of Faisalabad in collaboration Madinah Teaching Hospital visited SOS Children's Village Faisalabad Chak No 199/RB. Head of Department Prof Dr Tanzeela Khalid supervised the team of Post Graduate Residents of Madinah Teaching Hospital and students of the Department of Dermal Sciences. They examined about 100 students, took their complete history, and provided medical care. Free medicines were distributed among the students and faculty members. students were also educated about proper handwashing techniques and hygienic measures.

 

 

 

DENGUE AWARENESS SEMINAR IN LOCAL SCHOOLS

Due to escalating cases of dengue fever in Punjab and throughout Pakistan, Dengue Awareness Seminar was organized in The University of Faisalabad by Department of Community Medicine to the local community in Faisalabad. Dr Sumera Riaz, Assistant Professor Community Medicine visited the local schools in Faisalabad. The main goal was educated students and faculty for preventive measure against dengue. She highlighted the importance of preventive measures against dengue fever. She informed the school students that by adopting simple preventive measures, we can help Government in decreasing the disease prevalence. Dr Uzma Sagheer informed participants about severity of dengue fever and its current situation in Pakistan. University students showed enthusiasm in playing their role as responsible citizen by adopting preventive measures.

 

 

 

INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR ON MEDICAL RESEARCH

The University of Faisalabad has always recognized research as a key factor in the development of country. An international webinar on medical research was specially organized by The University of Faisalabad, in collaboration with The University of Health Sciences. This webinar was intended to bring together researchers and practitioners, from the academy and from the clinical side. Chairman Board of Governors, The University of Faisalabad, Muhammad Haider Amin, welcomed all the national and international speakers. The chief guest of the Medical Research Webinar, Professor Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission formally opened the proceedings of the first scientific session. Pro-rector, The University of Faisalabad, Dr Muhammad Saeed gave his opening remarks about Medical Research Webinar. He explained that this webinar is a platform to share and discuss ways to improve accessibility to knowledge and promote interdisciplinary collaborations.  Prof. Dr Khalid Saeed Khan, Professor and Distinguished Investigator in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Pubic Health Faculty of Medicine, University of Granada, Spain gave his presentation on “Getting Research Published” in which he effectively discussed various components of article writing followed by a brief question and answer session.

 

 

 

SESSION HOSTED BY UNIVERSITY FOR COMMUNITY REGARDING GLAUCOMA

World Glaucoma Week is a unique initiative that puts a spotlight on glaucoma as the leading cause of preventable irreversible blindness worldwide. The prompt diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma can prevent needless vision impairment, however, so many are unaware they have the disease or may not have access to much-needed care. Department of optometry, university of Faisalabad observed World Glaucoma week to educate community regarding Glaucoma. Session arranged by the department. Students from the Department of optometry. For the purpose of raising general awareness nation wide about glaucoma, FM radio messages and pamphlets were disseminated to the public.

 

 

 

WEBINAR ON THE CHALLENGES THE CHALLENGES & FUTURE DIRECTIONS OF POLYMERIC INSULATION FOR HVDC EXTRUDED CABLES

A webinar hosted by University of Faisalabad on the topic of “The Challenges & Future Directions of Polymeric Insulation for HVDC Extruded Cables” by Department of Electrical Engineering. The guest speaker was Dr Muhammad Shoaib Bhutta, Assistant Professor, Guilin University of Aerospace Technology, China. Faculty member and students from various university attended webinar. Dr Muhammad Shoaib Bhutta described the benefits and importance of high voltage and insulation technology for the graduates in power transmission system. He further elaborated that learning the high voltage insulation technology is a great way to optimize the power transmission and to improve the overall efficiency of electrical power network. He shared his experience of implementing high voltage engineering in power transmission network, as a member of Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS), Chongqing University, where he has conducted a comprehensive research over the aforementioned topic. Students face many problems during implementation of high voltage engineering and controlling its parameters specifically in industry. Dr Shoaib explained the students how to overcome these challenging issues and gain useful experience in the real-world applications. In the end, the Head of the Department thanked the honorable guest speaker for his valuable speech on this webinar.

 

 

 

SUPPORT STUDENTS' LEARNING

For transforming knowledge to students use of movies and videos to enhance students' learning is key requirement in modern era. University of Faisalabad invited students from various schools and provide auditorium and seminar room to the students and arrange movies and informative sessions.
