WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5th, is the United Nations' most important day for raising global awareness and action for environmental conservation. In collaboration with the UN Environment Program, Pakistan will host World Environment Day 2021 on the topic of 'Ecosystem Restoration, emphasising resetting our relationship with the environment. TUF Environment Protection Club and TUF Green Club at The University of Faisalabad planned a commemorative event. The principal guest was Mr Qazi Khalid Mehmood, Conservator, Forest Department Punjab. Mr Wajihuddin Ahmed, Divisional Forest Officer Extension Faisalabad, Mr Muhammad Ali Butt, Divisional Forest Officer, and Mirza Sabir Hussain, Sub Divisional Forest Officer, were also present. Mr Muhammad Haider Amin, Chairman BoG TUF, Prof (Meritorious) Dr Khaleeq ur Rehman, Rector, Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar, visitors from the Forest Department, faculty members, and students planted seedlings on the grounds of the ladies' dormitory and the University. To commemorate the day, instructors and members of the Environment Protection Club and TUF Green Club took part in an awareness walk. The University of Faisalabad also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Punjab Forest Department. Mr Qazi Khalid Mehmood, Conservator, Forest Department, and Mr Aurangzeb Goraya, President TUF Environment Protection Club, signed this agreement. TUF Environment Protection Club will plant shade, decorative, and fruit plants at the university and other suitable city place throughout the year, especially during the tree planting campaign.
