INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATED AT TUF
The 8th of March is International Women's Day, a time to reflect on progress made, urge for change, and honour acts of courage and conviction by women who have played notable roles in the history of their nations and communities. TUFIANS commemorated the day with this year's theme, "Choose to Challenge," in the Health Sciences wing. The chief guest was Prof Dr Robina Farooq, Vice-Chancellor of Government College Women University Faisalabad. Dr Robina Farooq speech focused light on the role and importance of women in the advancement of a nation. She stated that female students have excellent academic performance. Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar and President of Women Foundation, along with other faculty members, staff, and many students, were present to celebrate the day organized by the Department of English and TUF Dramatic Society. Women’s day was also observed in the TUF Engineering wing. Mr Muhammad Shaukat Hayat Khan, Campus Director, Mr Muhammad Zubair, Deputy Registrar and others shared their views to mark the day. Students presented tableaus, and documentaries, delivered speeches, displayed posters and organized an awareness walk to sensitize the audience about the odds and obstacles women face in society. The commendable activities of TUFIANS marvellously depicted the message of women’s rights. This successful event was a combined effort of TUF Musical, Art and Culture Societies in the Engineering wing.
