FREE MEDICAL AND DENTAL CAMP WAS ARRANGED AT ADIALA JAIL RAWALPINDI

Madinah Teaching Hospital under the auspices of Madinah Foundation organized a free medical and dental camp at district jail Mandi Bahauddin. Under the supervision of Prof Dr Farrukh Imran, a team of expert doctors including ENT, Medicine, Skin and dental specialists treated more than 300 patients. These patients were also given medicine free of cost. Mr Naveed Iqbal, Additional District & Sessions Judge visited the camp and he appreciated the philanthropic activities of Madinah Foundation particular in health sector.

 

    

 

 

FREE MEDICAL CAMP BY UNIVERSITY OF FAISALABAD IN COLLABORATION WITH DISTRICT HEALTH DEPARTMENT DERA GHAZI KHAN

Free medical camp has been arranged by The University of Faisalabad to provide the free medical treatment to the people of Tonsa Shareef in collaboration with Health Department Dera Ghazi Kahn. Cure to more than 600 patents has been provided with free medicine.

MEDICAL CAMP ARRANGED BY STUDENTS OF DERMAL SCIENCES

Department of Dermatology Department of Dermatology Society for Skin Care, University of Faisalabad in collaboration with Madinah Teaching The University of Faisalabad and organized a Free Medical Camp at Hayat Dispensary, Soba Chak 159 RB. Under the supervision of Head of Department Prof Dr Tanzeela Khalid, students of Dermal sciences participated in the camp. It aimed to develop professional skills in students by providing them clinical exposure. On the occasion, students examined more than 150 patients and counseled them regarding their skin diseases. Free medicines were also distributed among these patients. Aligned with SDG # 3, "Good health and wellbeing ", this social outreach program initiated by MTH and TUF, intends to provide better health care to the people who don't have access to such facilities.

 

   

 

EYE SCREENING CAMP BY DEPARTMENT OF OPTOMETRY

An Eye screening camp was conducted by students of BS Optometry at Chenab School Chiniot. More than 400 students were screened out at the School by Optometry students along with Madinah Teaching Hospital Doctor. All visual functions were evaluated and students were counseled for a detailed evaluation of their problem. External and internal examination of the eye was performed using a pen torch and ophthalmoscope, while contrast and visual function by using Pelli Robson and Snellen chart. The screening activity was conducted under the supervision of Dr Nimra Gul and Dr Shakila Abbas.

 

   

 

FREE PHYSICAL THERAPY CAMP AT MTH

In continuity of its community services, a 3day Free Physical Therapy Camp was organized by Department of Physical Therapy at Madinah Teaching Hospital on February 15-17, 2021. Dr Rana Bashir Ahmed, MS, MTH and Prof Dr Aamir Choudhary Principal UMDC inaugurated the rehab activities for the common people of Faisalabad and surrounding areas. They appreciated the efforts of Dr Nazia Sarfraz, Head Department of Physical Therapy and her team for arranging this camp. A team of expert Physical Therapists from Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, TUF and Department of Physical Therapy, MTH actively supported by Physical Therapy students of TUF gave free physiotherapy treatment to the patients. Medications and various tests facilities were also provided free of cost. More than 550 patients were examined and treated. The camp was a great success and the patients were satisfied with the assessment and treatment they received.

 

 

  

 

WORLD MALARIA DAY

Department of Community Medicine organized “Malaria Awareness Session” for female workers & gardeners of The University of Faisalabad. This awareness session was part of the activities related to World Malaria Day 2021. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Sumera Riaz, Head of the Community Medicine Department, educated the audience about the dangerous and harmful effects of malaria. Through pictorial images participants of awareness session were informed about malaria symptoms & simple protective measures to avoid mosquito bite. They were encouraged to keep the surrounding environment of their houses clean and free from dirty stagnant water which provides ideal breeding site for mosquitoes. Awareness session was concluded by distributing mosquito repellents and coils. 

 

  

 

FAMILY PLANNING GUIDANCE

The right to decide the number, spacing and timing of children has a profound impact on the life of a woman. Yet, one in five married women in Pakistan who want to avoid pregnancy are unable to access effective methods to do so. Madinah Teaching Hospital Pediatric ward host an an educational session on family planning to the women.

 

  

 

DENGUE AWARENESS SEMINAR IN LOCAL SCHOOLS

Due to escalating cases of dengue fever in Punjab and throughout Pakistan, Dengue Awareness Seminar was organized in The University of Faisalabad by Department of Community Medicine to the local community in Faisalabad. Dr Sumera Riaz, Assistant Professor Community Medicine highlighted the importance of preventive measures against dengue fever. She informed the students that by adopting simple preventive measures, we can help Government in decreasing the disease prevalence. Dr Uzma Sagheer informed participants about severity of dengue fever and its current situation in Pakistan. University students showed enthusiasm in playing their role as responsible citizen by adopting preventive measures.

 

 

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS SEMINAR

A seminar on “Breast Cancer awareness” was organized by the Department of Surgery, Madinah Teaching Hospital (MTH) on October 21, 2021. Mainly female janitorial workers of MTH were addressed to spread the message for their awareness. Doctors from different departments of the hospital and, nursing staff also attended the seminar.  Prof Dr Irshad Ahmad, Head Department of Surgery in his welcome address highlighted the importance of Breast Cancer awareness and early detection. Dr Sumaira Riaz, Head Community Medicine Department described methods of breast self examination and different risk factors that involved in breast cancer development. Prof Dr Saira Saleem, Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon of Madinah Teaching Hospital explained how we can diagnose the cancer and treat it according to different cancer stages. Medical Superintendent Brig (Retd) Dr Munir Ahmad explained the objectives of seminar and need to spread message of early and timely detection of the disease. Prof Dr AG Rehan shared his lifelong experience of management cancer and explained how diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer evolved with time.

Finally Principal UMDC and Chief Guest of event professor Dr Aamir Ali Chaudhary concluded the event with remarks of timely prevention, diagnosis and treatment of this lethal disease to save the life of patient.

 

  

  

 

FREE MEDICAL CAMP IN SOS CHILDREN'S VILLAGE

 Department of Dermatology University of Faisalabad in collaboration Madinah Teaching Hospital organized a Free Medical Camp in SOS Children's Village Faisalabad Chak No 199/RB. Head of Department Prof Dr Tanzeela Khalid supervised the team of Post Graduate Residents of Madinah Teaching Hospital and students of the Department of Dermal Sciences. They examined about 100 patients, took their complete history, and provided medical care. Free medicines were distributed among these patients. They were also educated about proper handwashing techniques and hygienic measures. The camp equipped the health care professionals with the skills of empathy, receptiveness, and adaptive leadership.

 

  

 

WORLD HEPATITIS DAY OBSERVED IN MTH

World Hepatitis Day is observed annually on 28th July. Department of Gastroenterology, Madinah Teaching Hospital organized as series of activities to mark the day. Seminar and awareness walk were held to raise public awareness.

 Prof Dr Shahid Rasool, Head Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology delivered lecture to MBBS students, paramedical staff and faculty members regarding prevention, diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis B and C. Prof Dr Aamir Ali Choudhry, Principal UMDC and Brig Dr Muneer Ahmad (Retd), MS MTH also delivered comprehensive talks regarding prevalence and management of hepatitis in Pakistan.

 

  

 

WORKSHOP ON “NEONATAL LIFE SUPPORT”

One day Neonatal Life support course with hands-on practice was organized by the Department of Pediatrics, Madinah Teaching Hospital on June 11, 2021. This course provided the internees, staff nurses, and resident doctors with the opportunity to practice and enhance their skills in neonatal resuscitation. Prof Dr Aisha Sajid and Assistant Professor Dr Sohaib Riaz supervised the participants to practice various clinical scenarios with simulations related to the real-time scenarios. Participants found this workshop quite useful for their routine clinical practice.
