SEMINAR “BREAST CANCER AWARENESS, PREVENTION AND CONTROL”
On October 20, 2021, the Department of Community Medicine and Community Services Society TUF, in partnership with HEC and Pink Ribbon Pakistan, organized a conference on "Breast Cancer Awareness, Prevention, and Control." Prof Dr Aamir Ali Choudhary, Principal of University Medical & Dental College, encouraged university students to participate as Change Agents in the community by spreading the message that "early detection may save lives." Prof Dr Saira Saleem, a leading female breast surgeon at Madinah Teaching Hospital (MTH), highlighted the MTH's breast cancer treatment services and the importance of the Multidisciplinary Team Approach in its treatment. Prof Dr Shazia Aslam, Head of the Pathology Department, addressed the audience about the diagnostic services for breast cancer offered at MTH and primary myths about breast cancer in our society.
Associate Prof Dr Sumera Riaz, Head of Community Medicine Department, underlined the significance of breast cancer screening using Breast Self-Examination (BSE), followed by clinical breast examination and mammography.
