COMMITMENT TO MEANINGFUL EDUCATION
SELECTION OF GEOTECHNICAL DESIGN PARAMETERS
Mr. Muhammad Moeen, Chief Engineer, National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK), delivered a session via Webinar to faculty and students of the Department of Civil Engineering on the topic "Selection of Geotechnical Design Parameters." He highlighted numerous geotechnical difficulties at various building sites and explained how these problems might be identified using multiple geotechnical investigation tests. He stated that geotechnical study differs by site because soil characteristics at various sites fluctuate. Thus these empirical relations must be revised regarding soil type and parameters.
IMPORTANCE OF POWER ELECTRONICS IN RENEWABLE ENERGY APPLICATIONS
The Department of Engineering Technology organized a webinar on "Importance of Power Electronics in Renewable Energy Applications." Guest speaker, Dr Sohaib Tahir, Assistant Professor at COMSATS University Islamabad's Sahiwal Campus, discussed the significance of power electronics for renewable energy. He highlighted the use of Genetic Algorithms to optimize renewable energy systems and promote global green energy. As a member of the Power Electronics and Renewable Energy Center (PEREC), Xi'an Jiao tong University, he has undertaken extensive research on this topic. Furthermore, he offered his expertise in implementing power electronics in renewable energy systems.
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ACTIVATED SLUDGE SYSTEM
Associate Professor Dr Shamsul Rahman Mohamed Kutty organized a webinar for faculty and students of the Department of Civil Engineering on the topic “Things You Need to Know about Activated Sludge System”. He talked about several wastewater treatment systems in Malaysia and compared them to wastewater treatment methods in other nations. He addressed the significance of an activated sludge system in obtaining more precise effluent discharge values with already established regulations and criteria. He concluded that with this methodology, we could treat wastewater more efficiently than other sewage treatment technologies that include microbial addition. Participants asked the speaker questions at the end of the session, which resulted in a fruitful discussion.
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
The University of Faisalabad Environment Protection Club and Green Club celebrated world environment day. The guest speaker was Mr Qazi Khalid Mehmood, Forest Department Punjab. Mr Wajihuddin Ahmed, Divisional Forest Officer Extension Faisalabad, Mr Muhammad Ali Butt, Divisional Forest Officer, and Mirza Sabir Hussain, Sub Divisional Forest Officer, were also present. Mr Muhammad Haider Amin, Chairman BoG TUF, Prof Dr Khaleeq ur Rehman, Rector, Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar, visitors from the Forest Department, faculty members, and students planted seedlings on the grounds of the ladies' dormitory at the University. Members of the Environment Protection Club and Green Club took part in an awareness walk. The University of Faisalabad also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Punjab Forest Department to reduce global warming by planting more trees in country.
WEBINAR “ON NEED OF GEOPOLYMER ENVIRONMENTAL PERSPECTIVE”
The Department of Engineering Technology organized a webinar on "Need for Geopolymer Environmental Perspective." Dr Muhammad Faheem, a graduate of Chongqing University in China, was the guest speaker. He discussed the significance of Geopolymer for environmental sustainability and explained how industrial and hazardous waste may be used creatively. He also emphasized the importance of Geopolymer in restoring/stabilizing climate change for developing nations such as Pakistan. At the end of the webinar, the Head of the Department of Engineering Technology appreciated the guest speaker for his insightful observations. Furthermore, he encouraged the students to raise public awareness about the use of Geopolymer.
Workshop on “Panel Data Analysis in Sata
TUF Literary Society organized a research workshop titled "Panel data analysis using Stata" in the Engineering Wing of the University of Faisalabad. The guest speaker Dr Noheed Khan discusses the technical aspects of utilizing Stata with Panel data. He thoroughly described each component in order to provide a solid comprehension of Panel data analyzation. It was concluded that technological tools are usually beneficial in providing precise and efficient results.
WORKSHOP ON IMPROVE YOUR STUDY STRATEGIES -STUDY SMART
The Entrepreneur Society conducted a workshop in the Engineering wing of the University of Faisalabad. Title “Improve your study tactics - study smart”. Dr Malkah Noor Kiani invited as guest speaker. She discussed various scientific methods of study throughout the session. The purpose of arranging this workshop was to encourage students to develop their critical thinking skills and lead them in self-learning. Students and faculty members enthusiastically engaged in the program and answered the guest speaker's questions. At the end of the workshop, management sciences faculty members shared their thoughts regarding workshop.
WEBINAR “DYNAMIC HORIZONS IN THE FIELD OF COSMETIC SCIENCES”
Continuing the journey towards active and effective learning the Department of Dermatological Sciences, in association with the TUF Society for Skin Care, organized a webinar on “Dynamic horizons in the field of Cosmetic Sciences" under the supervision of the Head of Department Prof Dr Tanzeela Khalid and Coordinator Dr Rabia Mahmood. The guest speaker Dr Sidra Meer provided extensive knowledge on the scope of herbal cosmetics in skin care, skin care formulations, base formulas and instruments. In the end, she conducted an interactive session with the participants by answering their queries.
HIGH-RISE BUILDING CONSTRUCTION SITE EDUCATIONAL VISIT
Students and faculty members from the Department of Civil Engineering visited the Gatwala Commercial Hub Construction Site. This educational visit aimed to provide a platform for the students regarding the most recent techniques used in the construction of high-rise structures.
WORKSHOP “HANDS-ON PRACTICE OF OPHTHALMIC DISPENSING
TUF, in collaboration with the Department of Optometry, organized a workshop on "Hands-on Practice of Ophthalmic Dispensing" in Optometry Lab. The workshop was conducted by clinical optometrists Mr. Hakeem Anjum and Dr. Nimra Gul. Students from the various semesters of the BS Optometry program participated and learned how to create spectacle lenses by marking, cutting, edging, and fitting them. In addition, the professionals provided clinical information about clinical trial for evaluating high-power prism glasses for patients with homonymous hemianopia.
WORKSHOP ON “SUBJECTIVE AND OBJECTIVE REFRACTION
An interactive session on the topic "Subjective and Objective Refraction" was planned for Optometry semester students. Dr Iqra Khalil Optometrist Aziz Fatima Hospital Faisalabad gave a brief description of the subjective refraction examination that can be done by examining patients’ trials and Snellen chart usage. She also briefs about the objective Refraction that can be determined without relying on the response of the patients. In addition, she also guided students through different methods used to determine the spherical component of patient’s refractive error and the advantages and limitations of the various tests in different situations.
WORKSHOP ON “HANDS-ON PRACTICE ON AIRWAY MANAGEMENT
Hands-on Practice in Airway Management" Workshop was held under the supervision of Dr Nadia Bano, Head of the Department of Anesthesia, and Dr Sanila Shoaib, Department Coordination at Madinah Teaching Hospital. The objective of the workshop is to familiarize students with the fundamental skills required for airway management, practiced in a clinical setting, on airway anatomy, airway opening, and maintenance based on international standardized guidelines. After the workshop, a certificate was presented to the students and staff members.
