Free Medical Camp for Medical Checkup Consultancy, Treatment and Medicine – Student Volunteering Program

Madinah foundation is a non-profitable organization duly registered by Govt of Punjab having an ambition to strengthen the community through multiple initiatives. On the direction of worthy Chairman Mian Muhammad Hanif, a free medical camp was organized by Dermatology, Pharmacy, Surgery, Medicine and Dental departments of the university with a sacred mission to combat diseases, malnutrition and serve the poor unconditionally.

The motive and main objective behind setting a free medical camp is to bring affordable health care and free health information to the community and identify the common health problems in order to devise ways of addressing them. In our system when hospital and clinics are overwhelmed by the burden of diseases and poor people from off areas are having trouble receiving health care, free medical camps are rendered as their biggest hope. Free medical camps are setup with a sacred aim to bring awareness among the deprived population of our country. These camps tend to foresee that people are getting health care at the right time and seen by the doctor early enough before a small health problem turns serious.

For this event District Jail, Multan was chosen as venue. A team of renowned doctors, faculty and students of specific departments along with paramedics was constituted under the supervision of khalid Mehmood as coordinator to provide health preventive and curative treatment on Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Medicine and Dental issues of prisons. Students volunteered in the medical camps and community outreach activities which also helps them gaining practical knowledge and skills in their field.

Around 222 patients were checked and given free medicines and medical advice. Besides medical facility, the objective was to educate the patients on personal health, hygiene and preventions of diseases.
