Sustainability Projects
Does your university have direct involvement in, or input into, national government SDG policy development - including identifying problems and challenges, developing policies and strategies, modeling likely futures with and without interventions, monitoring and reporting on interventions, and enabling adaptive management?
Madinah Group was established in the year 1946. The group ventured into the educational, industrial sector and community rehabilitation services with the motto 'INDUSTRY, SERVICE and EDUCATION’. All industrial projects were grouped under ‘Madinah Group of Industries’ and, all not-for-profit projects primarily for the welfare of the society and uplift of the underprivileged were grouped under ‘Madinah Foundation’. One of the not-for-profit projects of Madinah Foundation is The University of Faisalabad. The University has direct involvement in national government SDG policy development. We contributed in national government SDG policy development in following manners:
- Prime Minster Dam Fund raising campaign
Patron in Chief of University called on Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar at his chamber on Tuesday and presented a cheque of Rs10 million as donation to Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams fund. University actively participated in the Prime Minster Dam Fund raising campaign through radio channel FM 96.6, Seminars and Workshops.
Shelter Homes
The Panahgahs has been established over 22,596.75 sq ft of land at a cost of Rs 35 million in six months. The total capacity of the Panahgahs is 700 people, though currently, 400 beds are available there. The Panahgahs consists of three halls (one each for male, females and transgender), two prayer halls, two dining halls, 18 washrooms (11 for males and 7 for females), a kitchen/storeroom for food, manager office, security offices for male and females.
TUFIANS TREE PLANTATION DRIVE
Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the largest tree plantation drive in the history of Pakistan as the ruling party commemorates August 9 as 'Tiger Force Day'. The University of Faisalabad in continuation with the Prime Minister initiative organised “TUFIANS Tree Plantation Drive” in the University. Faculty members, administration and students enthusiastically participated in this ‘Tree Plantation Drive’ to make Pakistan greener and to restore its Eco balance.
TUF Management as part of National Policy Development
Patron-in-Chief The University of Faisalabad Mian Muhammad Hanif is a member of Punjab Higher Education Commission. Due to his active involvement Punjab HEC has recently taken very crucial initiatives to enhance sustainability through education institutes of Punjab. Some of the key initiatives include motivation of Universities for Solar Energy, Restoration of Rain Water, Usage of Energy Efficient Appliances, Ban of Carbonated Drinks in Universities, Drug and Smoke Free Campuses etc. http://punjabhec.gov.pk/commision/
Patron-in-Chief The University of Faislabad Mian Muhammad Haneef is also a honarary Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Punjab. Due to his active role PRC is playing a vital role in Disaster Management, Health & Care, Media & Communication, Planning Monitoring & Reporting and Managing Regional Blood Donor Centres. http://punjab.prcs.org.pk/governance/
