Agriculture and Household Nutrition Security Development Practice and Research Needs

Agriculture and household nutrition security development is a multidisciplinary field that focuses on ensuring food security, improving nutrition, and enhancing livelihoods, particularly in rural and marginalized communities. This field integrates principles from agriculture, nutrition, public health, economics, and social sciences to address the complex challenges associated with food insecurity and malnutrition. A thorough analysis was conducted including local agricultural practices, household dietary patterns, and existing nutrition challenges. Discussion sessions with farmers were conducted to understand their needs. Awareness programs for farmers on sustainable agriculture practices and nutrition were conducted.

The main objectives were to:

  • Explore and promote sustainable agriculture practices that enhance both crop yields and nutritional content.
  • Encourage the farmer to diversify their crops to enhance dietary variety, addressing multiple nutritional needs within households.
